Upon completion of all didactic, laboratory and clinical requirements, graduates who are 18 years old or older become eligible to take licensure examinations in order to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Ohio. There are additional fees required to obtain licensure, which are the responsibility of each individual student.

The physical therapy aide works under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients achieve their mobility goals and functional potential. This may include training patients to use artificial limbs or assistive devices. They may also teach patients and family members about exercises or activities they can do at home to aid in recovery. They can also report patient reactions to treatment and make suggestions for modifying therapy to their supervising therapist. Physical therapist assistants also perform certain clerical and support duties and may provide on-the-job training to non-licensed staff.

We offer physical and occupational therapy services to residents of the community who have conditions affecting their ability to function independently at work or home. These include musculoskeletal disorders, stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injuries and complex wound care. Our rehabilitation team includes certified physical and occupational therapists with specialties in women’s health/pelvic floor and hand therapy, as well as a certified physical therapy assistant.
