Manufacturers rep. of fluid flow components including valves such as explosion proof valves. Valves are used in applications with flammable or explosive gases, liquids, vapors & dusts requiring higher levels of safety than regular solenoid valves. Types include high purity valves, cryogenic valves, inert valves & relief valves. Features vary per model but may include stainless steel pistons, hermetically sealed, sub-base & manifold mountings & manual reset or pull-type electrohydraulic actuators.
An explosion proof solenoid valve is a special type of solenoid valve that is designed to contain any internal sparks caused by the switching of the electromagnetic head lock and prevent them from igniting combustible gas, vapors or particulates in the surrounding environment that could explode as a result of the current fluctuations. Unlike other solenoid valves that can generate sparks that can ignite combustible materials, the coil and enclosure of an explosion proof valve is built with thick metal components that are designed to contain any resulting fire or explosion.
Usually marked with an “E” before the model number, these hazardous location valves are recommended for use in any area where there is a possibility of fire or explosion hazards due to the presence of flammable gases & vapors, flammable liquids, combustible dust or easily ignitable fibers. They are designed with heavy components that surround the coil to contain any resulting fire or explosion and have a large opening that allows for safe operation even when the coil is energized and opened.
